Estradiol

  • Estradiol is the most potent form of estrogen, a primary female sex hormone responsible for the development and maintenance of female reproductive tissues. It works by binding to estrogen receptors on various tissues, such as the breast, uterus, and bone, promoting the transcription of genes involved in cell growth, tissue maintenance, and reproductive function. Estradiol also plays a critical role in regulating the menstrual cycle and is used in hormone replacement therapy to alleviate menopausal symptoms, reduce the risk of osteoporosis, and maintain cardiovascular and bone health.
