Kisspeptin-10
-
Kisspeptin-10 is a shorter peptide derivative of the KISS1 gene, playing a critical role in the regulation of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axis. It stimulates the release of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) from the hypothalamus, which in turn promotes the secretion of luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) from the anterior pituitary gland. This cascade enhances the production of sex hormones like testosterone and estrogen, aiding in fertility, reproductive health, and hormonal balance. Kisspeptin-10 is also involved in regulating puberty and reproductive maturation.
