pentosan

  • Pentosan polysulfate sodium (PPS) is a semi-synthetic polysaccharide that mimics the action of glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) in the body. It acts by restoring the protective layer of the bladder in conditions like interstitial cystitis and by promoting cartilage health and reducing inflammation in joint diseases like osteoarthritis. Pentosan is believed to inhibit enzymes that degrade cartilage, stimulate cartilage synthesis, and have anti-inflammatory properties, which reduce joint pain and slow the progression of osteoarthritis. It also has anticoagulant effects and increases blood flow to tissues, enhancing nutrient delivery and waste removal in affected joints.

    • Provides anti-inflammatory effects, reducing joint inflammation.

    • Protects cartilage and helps prevent further degradation in osteoarthritis.

    • Stimulates cartilage repair and regeneration.

    • Reduces pain and improves joint function in patients with arthritis.

    • Acts as an anticoagulant, reducing the risk of blood clot formation.

    • Promotes healthy blood flow and improves vascular health.

    • Reduces symptoms of interstitial cystitis by protecting the bladder lining.

    • Enhances tissue repair and regeneration in connective tissues.

    • Supports bone health and may prevent osteoporosis.

    • Reduces symptoms of chronic pain syndromes like fibromyalgia.

    • Osteoarthritis: Used to reduce joint pain and inflammation in osteoarthritis.

    • Rheumatoid Arthritis: Helps manage joint inflammation and pain in rheumatoid arthritis.

    • Interstitial Cystitis: Reduces bladder inflammation and pain in interstitial cystitis.

    • Fibromyalgia: May reduce pain and inflammation in fibromyalgia patients.

    • Joint Degeneration: Slows the progression of joint degeneration in aging individuals.

    • Tendonitis: Used to reduce inflammation and pain in tendonitis.

    • Connective Tissue Disorders: Supports the repair of connective tissues in conditions like Ehlers-Danlos syndrome.

    • Vascular Health: Improves vascular function and reduces clotting risks.

    • Chronic Pain Syndromes: Helps manage pain in chronic conditions like chronic fatigue syndrome.

    • Bone Health: Supports bone density and may prevent osteoporosis.
